Heavy soil on root crops needs force, not friction. Root vegetables and fruit travel along a stainless mesh belt into a wash zone where multi-directional nozzles fire high-pressure water from several angles, lifting clay and grit from the skin. Suspended solids are filtered out of the return water so clean water is reused, and the crop leaves washed and ready for cutting, blanching, drying, freezing or packing. Six belt sizes cover 200 to 1,800 kg per hour, with nozzle angle and pump pressure adjustable per crop.
Three features separate a root crop washer from a general produce washer.
Multi-directional nozzles surround the belt, so the crop is cleaned on every side rather than only from above.
Pump pressure and nozzle angle are adjustable, so heavy clay can be blasted off while tender skins are washed at a gentler setting.
Suspended solids are filtered from the return water and clean water is recovered, which lowers consumption on a continuous line.
One platform scaling from a small ginger line to a large continuous root crop facility.
Six belt lengths, one washing principle. Figures are taken directly from the machine datasheet.

Belt width, nozzle layout and discharge height are specified with the order. Send the crop, its soil load and the required hourly throughput and we will confirm the model.
How the three settings combine into a wash programme for different root crops.
| Crop and condition | Nozzle arrangement | Relative pressure | Belt speed | Result |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ginger and turmeric, heavy clay | Full surround with targeted nozzles | High | Slow end of the range | Clay removed from crevices and knuckles |
| Potato and sweet potato | Top and side rows | Medium-high | Mid range | Soil lifted, skin and eyes left intact |
| Carrot and radish | Side rows angled along the belt | Medium | Mid to fast | Surface cleaned without scoring the skin |
| Onion and beetroot | Full surround, reduced pressure | Medium | Mid range | Outer skin preserved for storage |
| Tender or freshly lifted crops | Side rows only | Low | Adapted to the throughput | Cleaned gently to protect shelf life |
| Crops needing a hygiene step | As above plus ozone option | As required | As required | Soil removed and microbial load reduced |
The guidance above describes starting settings. Final pressure, nozzle angle and belt speed are set on site with your own crop, because soil type and harvest condition change the optimum more than the variety does.
Features that matter on a line running all day with muddy incoming crop.
A generously sized reservoir supports continuous work and buffers changes in the incoming soil load.
A stop switch halts the machine immediately for safe clearing and cleaning access.
Consistent belt tracking and even spray coverage keep performance steady through a long shift.
Adjustable pressure protects the skin so the crop keeps its appearance and stores longer.
Infeed, wash, recover water and discharge, all without stopping the line.
Crop is loaded onto the stainless mesh belt, which spreads it into an even layer for consistent spray coverage.
The pump feeds the adjustable nozzles and water is directed from several angles to strip mud, grit and debris.
Return water is filtered so suspended solids are separated and clean water is recovered for reuse in the tank.
Washed product leaves the belt for cutting, blanching, drying, frying, freezing or packing, with optional crates or vibration handling.
Sites that process root crops in volume, from washing through to the finished product.
Fresh ginger including tender, mature and sprouted roots, yellow ginger and white ginger, washed before slicing, freezing or pickling.
Potato, sweet potato, taro, yam, carrot and radish with heavy soil loads, cleaned ahead of further processing.
Food processing plants, agricultural processing facilities, catering operations, central kitchens, frozen food plants and large vegetable processing sites.
The washer feeds clean crop straight into cutting, blanching, drying, frying, freezing or packing, which is why it is usually the first station of a root crop line.
Machines are tested before dispatch and supported for their working life.
Every machine is tested before dispatch, and the shipment is tracked from the factory door.
Cover runs from delivery with replacement of major parts during the period.
Enough spare parts are supplied to cover up to three years of use, and extras ship by air express on request.
Operating video covers running, cleaning and maintenance, and our engineering team answers questions online.
Nozzle angle and pump pressure are both adjustable. The jets are aimed to lift soil from the skin rather than cut into it, and pressure can be reduced for tender or freshly harvested produce so the surface stays intact and keeps its storage life.
Belt speed sets the dwell time under the nozzles. Running at 3 metres per minute gives a long wash for heavily soiled crops, while 15 metres per minute suits lightly soiled loads and higher output, without changing any mechanical parts.
A high-pressure pump feeds the nozzles from a wide water tank that supports continuous operation. Suspended solids are filtered from the return water so clean water can be reused, and the machine is designed for water recovery and reduced consumption.
Six models from HVWM-3000 to HVWM-8000 cover 200 to 1,800 kg per hour. Choose on throughput and on the length your building allows. The lower output models use a 600 mm belt and the larger ones an 800 mm belt, with 600, 800, 1,000 and 1,200 mm widths available on request.
Yes. Brush units and vibration stages are optional additions that help with difficult surfaces and with crops carrying heavy clay. Ozone and additional disinfection can also be specified where a hygiene step is required.
The food contact parts are made in SUS304 food-grade stainless steel, which meets international hygiene standards, resists corrosion and does not release harmful substances. It is also easy to clean.
The machine carries a 12-month warranty from delivery, with replacement of major parts during the period, and enough spare parts are supplied for up to three years of use. A detailed operating video covers running, cleaning and maintenance, and our after-sales team is available online.
